Analysis of the story "Pelageya" by Fyodor Abramov

Pelageya from the novel of the same name by Abramov has seemingly completely opposite character traits. She wants to work for the good of society and satisfy her personal needs. But, besides, she has a desire to acquire a high social position.

Tellingly, being near death, Pelageya still manages to remember the happiest time in her life - working in a bakery.

Beauty, intelligence, self-sufficiency and courage - all this characterizes Pelagia in full. Of course, she also did the wrong thing. But this is the essence of learning - trial and error.

The positions of the common people are represented in the image of Pelageya, whose life is fully consistent with the path of a simple Russian woman. Although, Pelagia went through many trials. The death of her husband and an ambiguous relationship with her daughter definitely hurt her physically and morally.

Pelageya meets death, having lived a rather bleak and joyless life. Because of this, the piece is so tragic.

Abramov amazes with his realism. "Pelagia" displays life with all its inherent rigidity and heaviness. It is not always pleasant for the reader to be aware of what life is like. But still this must be done: living with illusions is a bad idea, since life at any moment can destroy all illusions.

Alka, daughter of Pelageya, is completely opposite to her mother. She has different views on life, different feelings and emotions. It is clear that because of this they would hardly be able to become a family.

Despite the fact that Pelageya was in essence a good and hardworking woman, life did not give her either happiness or sensible work. However, this often happens in real life. And this is the author's goal - to show that life is far from always fair, and sometimes even horrible, difficult and tragic.

And the way Abramov skillfully creates memorable images and an exciting atmosphere is admirable. Here it is - the power of the word.
