One of my favorite pieces is F.M. Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment". This is largely due to my attitude to the main character of this work. From the first pages of the book, he made him feel sympathy for him, despite the actions that he had to commit.
Outwardly, Rodion looks like a rather sickly young man, his clothes were old and decrepit. However, he has wonderful facial features. He has beautiful dark eyes and dark hair. Rodion Raskolnikov is smart and self-sufficient, it is humiliating for him to ask his mother for money.
Rodion's main idea was the exclusivity of some people, he doubted what class he belonged to. After killing the old woman, he finally realized that he was not a "rightful", but an ordinary confused person. After the double murder of the old money-lender and Lizaveta, he cannot find a place for himself for a long time, refuses to cooperate with the investigation. He is close to insanity. The situation is aggravated by the investigation, which begins to understand who is involved in the bloody crime. It is curious that even the money that Raskolnikov could have appropriated from the old woman, he did not take, but hid. For him there were no more financial difficulties, most of all he was burdened by the pangs of conscience after a serious crime.
On the way, Rodion meets Sonya Marmeladova, who saves him from prolonged torment. She sees salvation in repentance. Rodion makes a decision for himself to admit his guilt and relieves his suffering.
I really like the hero of this work. Despite the actions that he committed, I have an extremely positive attitude towards him. In addition, Rodion Raskolnikov embarked on the path of liberation and spiritual purification thanks to Sonya Marmeladova, which further elevates him in my eyes.
