F.M. Dostoevsky and L.N. Tolstoy: Common in the Work of Writers

The work of Fyodor Mikhailovich always attracts people with its gloom. But this word was used for a reason: Dostoevsky always depicted what he himself saw. He could not write about fun, when people lived poorly in the country, and the poor saw only darkness. Hence the pale yellow houses that Fedor Mikhailovich loved to describe.  By carefully reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, we can see a psychological analysis of Raskolnikov's soul. The writer has always been a psychologist, an expert on the people and people-intellectuals.  Tolstoy also loved the analysis of the actions of the heroes. Let us recall The Prisoner of the Caucasus, in which Lev Nikolaevich reveals the character of the heroes. But Tolstoy achieved real mastery in terms of a psychological portrait in the novel War and Peace.

Lev Nikolaevich Tolstoy tried to show the power of good, which can defeat evil. Some optimism is inherent in the work of this writer. Tolstoy has always thoroughly approached the themes of war. At first glance it may seem that such different writers cannot have anything in common except that they are fellow writers. But this is only the outer side.

Psychologism is a trait common to both writers. However, this is not the end of the general moments that characterize the work of Dostoevsky and Tolstoy.

The description of reality is different, but there is a common point in it: both Tolstoy and Dostoevsky tried to connect the state of nature and the situation in houses with the characters and behavior of the heroes. Remember the scene in A.P. Scherer. The atmosphere in it is too festive and pretentious; love also behave as if they were the center of the world. In Raskolnikov's closet there is nothing but a feeling of poverty. And it penetrates the hero, influencing his actions.

Dostoevsky and Tolstoy always paid attention to the word. They chose terms precisely, built complex sentence structures, if the situation required it: a sense of time, space. In this aspect, they bypassed many writers. Mastery of the word is a trait inherent in Fyodor Dostoevsky and Leo Tolstoy.
