The little man in the works of N. In. Gogol

Essay for 10 class, the "Little man" in the works of N. In. Gogol"

Nikolai Vasilievich Gogol always had the inherent passion for the depiction of the characters. However, he went further than many writers. Gogol interested in the topic of "little man". So in literature we call people of lower ranks, who in fact find themselves without rights.

The writer has demonstrated in his works that many world powers with disdain for "little people." Examples include many works of Nikolai.

One of the bright options is the story "the Overcoat". In it we see an innovative approach to Gogol. Akaky, the main character of the story, is afraid of everything new, he gets used to the monotonous work of the scribe.

Over the years Bashmachkin joking colleagues, and he is defenseless. He is seen as a submissive person. Gogol has demonstrated that these quiet people not to disturb anyone. They can even do their work on top, but never pretend to be something more, because they are unable to command and to assume the burden of responsibility.

Therefore, the total life of Akaky sad: he's dying, losing his coat – the most expensive thing in his life. Therefore, the overcoat becomes a symbol of accomplishment for "little people", showing the situation in this society.

In the story "diary of a madman" more screening is not specifically a miserable person, but a collective image. The hero needs to communicate, because he is lonely. And this theme permeates the entire work. It turns out that the "little man" is every man; a terrible picture of Russian realities.

N. In. Gogol was not the first writer introducing this topic, but he managed to bring it to new, so to say, human level. Therefore, the study of images of "little people" is the basis for successful understanding of Russian literature and life.
