The meaning of the Comedy "Woe from wit»
Title of the work

Griboyedov in his work emphasizes that Chatsky is a very educated and intelligent young man who has received a lot of experience and skills abroad.

When he returns home, he tries his best to improve society, but without success, because people around him do not understand his lifestyle and do not want to change anything.

When writing an essay on this topic, it should be noted that Chatsky's knowledge and aspirations, which are aimed at correcting the principles of society, lead the hero only to grief, because he remains misunderstood by no one, he is slandered by his beloved Sophia, because of which he has to leave the house of Famusov.

A struggle of generations

The modern generation in Griboyedov's Comedy is represented by the image of Chatsky. He is a man of progressive views on life. He is sure that serving someone is "sickening". For him, the position in society does not matter, he evaluates people by their inner qualities.

The generation of "fathers" is represented by the Famusov society. People who are used to smoothed glossiness of everything, without thinking about moral values. For representatives of Famusov society, the most important thing in a person is his position in society, his material means and career growth.

Love line

The beginning of the work is the conflict of lovers. In short, the main character arrives at Famusov's house to see Sofia after a long separation, who has fallen in love with another person — Molchalin. The appearance of two love triangles in the work, connected with the images of Chatsky, Sophia, Molchalin and Lisa, helps to emphasize the entire comical situation. The love story serves to reveal the main conflict associated with the confrontation of the old and new generation. For Famusov's society, nothing but external beauty makes sense: Molchalin uses Sophia to achieve his goals, and Chatsky's feelings are very pure and open, which again emphasizes his high morality.

As we can see, Griboyedov's Comedy "Woe from wit" presents a lot of interesting topics that have not ceased to be relevant even to this day.
