What is the meaning of the title of the story "the Fate of man" by M. A. Sholokhov?

In his story, the famous Russian and Soviet writer Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov described how the fate of people changed after the Second World war, but what is fate? Fate is a sequence of predetermined circumstances and events that occur in a person's life.

At the beginning of the work, the author introduces us to the main character – the driver Andrey Sokolov, who lived a happy family life until the war changed everything. Sokolov goes to the front and helps him cope with the difficult tests that fate constantly throws at him, only faith and hope. He, who was injured, is captured by the Nazis, where he learns all the hardships of life in a concentration camp. The story culminates in a scene where Sokolov was supposed to be shot by German lagerfuhrer Mueller. However, this did not happen, because the hero shows such qualities as willpower, patriotism, and bravery, which is characteristic of the Russian national character. Muller dismissed the soldier to the camp, giving him a loaf of bread and a piece of bacon, which the prisoners divided equally among themselves.

Next, Andrei Sokolov escapes from captivity, at the same time bringing an "expensive gift" - a German engineer with the rank of major in the army, for which he could be presented with a reward. However, the joy of the main character quickly disappears when he learns that his beloved wife and two daughters have died, but he was not broken by this grief. Sokolov writes letters with his son Anatoly and already imagines how the war will end, he will marry his son, and then he will nurse his granddaughters. Unfortunately, Anatoly's life was also tragically cut short. Sokolov had lost his entire family, lost what he had lived for. The war is over, and he goes to live with a friend in Uryupinsk, where he meets an orphaned boy, Vanyushka. Sokolov shows humanity, kindness and nobility, having decided to take the boy "to himself as a child".

This story is about the difficult fate of a Russian soldier. Despite all the trials, he still retained his humanity. The story describes a vivid example of how you can not put up with the blows of fate, you need to fight for your happiness and always remain a person.
