What is the relevance of "Word about Igor's regiment" in our day?
The only extant work of ancient poetry is "the Word about Igor's regiment". Written directly after the unfortunate campaign of Prince Igor Polovtsian, at the end of the XII century, this historical poem still excites our minds. History has not preserved for us the name of the author, but his thoughts and aspirations clear and close to us and our contemporaries.
It has been 1,000 years since those events! In the poem mentioned not only the campaign of Prince Igor, but other, more successful campaigns. Describes the princely internecine battles, feasts, ancient falconry. Mentioned singers and storytellers of epics, musicians with the harp.
What has changed since then?
Today, as then, the wife worried about her husband: "let's Fly a cuckoo along the Danube, in the morning the Prince his bloody wounds."
People still believe in omens and signs, hope and trust in God: "God is the way to go Igor from the Polovtsian land to the Russian land."
Father was Prince Svyatoslav, as today's parents, scolds and chides his children (Igor and Vsevolod) for the vehemence and arrogance. In this piece of writing sounds like a "Golden Prince Svyatoslav" - the most important message of the entire poem. Prince Svyatoslav call for universal unity, cohesion is strong and "weak, but courageous" principalities to fight the Cumans. Remembers how strong was the host, when "there was strife between the princely banners". It civil wars weakened the state and allowed the enemies to win the battle.
The ideas of patriotism and unity of the Russian people permeate the narrative "the Word about Igor's regiment". The author expresses his deepest love for long-suffering native land, and calls to protect it by common efforts.

What is not a story about today's "princelings" who amuse their vanity, trying to grab a larger piece of the pie and fatter Slavic lands, for the sake of wealth and greed are sowing discord and strife among the Nations. Your pocket full for them are more important than interests of the country.
Many centuries later we are not much closer to the ideas of unity and brotherhood, sung in ancient poem. Apparently it will still be relevant, "the Word about Igor's regiment". Not grown the descendants of the author to the awareness of the importance of unity to combat an external enemy.
It is in the unity of the people - the power and the power of the state.
