The image of the main character in the novel by I.A. Goncharova "Oblomov"
In his work Oblomov, Ivan Goncharov describes a completely inert, lazy character who lies on his bed almost around the clock. Each action for him is a huge feat and event, so moving to another apartment for Oblomov was a kind of feat, which, in principle, happened thanks to his love for Olga.
This episode is essentially the most important in Oblomov's life. Before him, he was steadily taking care of himself, trying to become better, but after his arrival on the Vyborg side, his life will return to the old Oblomovism.
Under the influence of Olga Ilyinskaya Oblomov begins to take an interest in the outside world, looks after himself: “He gets up at seven o'clock, reads, carries books somewhere. No sleep, no fatigue, no boredom on my face. Even colors appeared on him, a sparkle in his eyes, something like courage or, at least, self-confidence. The robe is not to be seen on him .... ". This is due to Ilya Ilyich's love for this girl. Lyubov Oblomov calls it an extremely responsible matter: "The bright, cloudless holiday of love has departed, that love actually became a duty."
All this destroys the Vyborg side. The main reason is Agafya Pshenitsina. She is described as a very sweet, but narrow-minded girl who later falls in love with Ilyich. Agafya has children, the apartment is clean and comfortable, while, unlike Olga, she accepts our antagonist for who he is. She doesn't care about his "Oblomov" laziness. There are also a number of external factors that actively decompose Oblomov. For example, howling dogs, crackling canaries, flowers on the windows, delicious food.
Because of all this, Oblomov does not want to leave this side. He finds himself a new sofa, loses meaning in life.
This chapter is extremely tragic. It is in it that the spiritual, and subsequently the physical death of the hero takes place. His life began to resemble a kind of cycle, where he again returned to his Oblomovka.
The author wanted to show by this that it is not enough just to change something. You need to change everything qualitatively, for sure, so that you never return to old positions.
