A conductor entered the carriage. The train was traveling from St. Petersburg towards Constantinople. On the way between two fellow travelers (a charming married woman and Shakhov) a very incomprehensible, attractive acquaintance took place.
Everything seemed fabulous, kindred, while the charm of rapprochement was spoiled by her husband, Yavorsky. He did not know how to talk about anything but himself and, except for his person, did not know how to love anyone.
And by chance they were destined to part, to which Lyubov Ivanovna sincerely and excitedly replied to her new acquaintance: “I have never felt so good as with you for a long time, maybe we will never see each other again”. There were tears in her eyes. Shakhov was moved and felt the same way. He was agitated and unhappy at the same time. And, despite what was about to happen, the two people they met made the decision never to part. They had not a grain of doubt, and therefore, quickly and imperceptibly they went to the platform of another train and in one minute decided for themselves - to stay together for life.
Could this be so in real life?
Such fateful meetings should never be missed. God always helps and offers such solutions. But due to the circumstances of life, the prevailing conventions, people miss such moments, do not have time to communicate with a person or meet (judge) by their appearance.
These fellow travelers, in spite of all the difficulties, life circumstances, were destined to be together and forever.
Their innocent conversation about a stranger showed an incredible similarity of their views, spiritual closeness.
The meaning of the name "At the junction"
Kuprin did not just call his story "At the junction", which reflects not only the direct events of the storyline, but also carries an additional, indirect meaning.
After all, every day many of us find ourselves "on the road". But due to indecision, uncertainty, they constantly travel with the right people in different directions.
And happy, according to Kuprin, is only the one who leaves with a loved one and dear person together, in one direction.
Love is those meetings and feelings that cover from the first minutes. And our life is a big train, in which someone finds his place in the carriage, and someone - on the platform.
And if a man and a woman find the strength to go through life and, holding hand in hand, they will be the happiest. Since happiness is a choice “with a loved one”.
