Delvig and the revolt of the Decembrists
At the end of 1825 the poet Delvig lived in a Big Millionnaya street. On the morning of 14 December, when he heard the rumor that came out into the street crowds and the army, he decided to walk.

Delvig passed columns of the Moscow regiment, but he failed to see his friends. Who knew his military was in a candy store, which was located at the corner of ascension street.

In the end, Delvig returned home to tell his wife about the situation in the city. Then shots rang out, and after street battles the poet wanted to visit his friend Prince Odoevsky, who lived nearby. Alas, he was already under arrest.

Thus, there is no reason to classify the famous poet Pushkin pleiad Delvig active participants of the December attempt of a coup. However, his name was listed in the "Alphabet of the Decembrists".

Perhaps the reason for that became some of the evidence collected during the investigation. It is found that the handwritten poems were popular among the rebels, was written by Pushkin and Delwig. Despite this Delvig has not filed any charges. Not only that - he was not even summoned for questioning.

13 Jul 1826 Delvig early in the morning came to say goodbye to Pestel and Ryleev, Kakhovsky, Muravyov-Apostol and Bestuzhev-Rumin. Sentenced to death, the Decembrists were calm and even searched among the onlookers of their friends. Thus, Delvig managed to give moral support to Ryleyev, who could easily recognize him in the crowd.

In the spring of 1827, after the arrival of Pushkin in Petersburg Delvig told him how was executed the Decembrists. It is with this story literary critics associate the appearance of Pushkin's "Arion", which allegorically describes the fate of the hanged rebels and thrown element at the banks of the singer.

In October 1826 the first Lyceum anniversary Delvig read his life-affirming poem "Again, my friends, in a brotherly circle..." it was mentioned "two friends" and the fact that "there is no them with us." It was about the Decembrists puscino and Kuhelbeker caught in the millstones of the punitive system. Lyrical hero of this poem argues that friendship "will penetrate solid rock", that is, in places of detention where there were friends.

Shortly after the appearance of this work, Pushkin wrote the poem "In the depths of Siberian mines..." that contains lines about love and friendships, which "walk through the gloomy gates". Thus, Delvig not only expressed support for the arrested comrades, but also may have inspired Pushkin to write similar appeals to the fighters for a better life.
