Imagism is a trend that predominantly embraced the poets of the peasant environment. It happened at the beginning of the 20th century. However, one must admit the fact: modern readers associate imagism only with the work of S.A. Yesenin. This opinion is partly true, because the poet brought the direction to perfection.
Sergei Alexandrovich adored his village and the nature surrounding it, so he was imbued with the ideas of Imagism, but brought his vision into them. If some called the Imagists blasphemers, then Sergei Alexandrovich could not be considered such, because he described a spiritualized nature.
It turned out that the poet created a special direction in literature. He knew how to combine vernacular, dialectic and high-style words. Every phrase has always been in place. Yesenin truly breathed life into Imagism, showing the possibilities of the power of words. Even the first poems of the poet are full of strength, although some accused Sergei of being fond of dialects. Don't they create a special Yesenin style?
Only, unlike his colleagues in the direction, Yesenin paid attention not only to the image, but also to the content of his poems. This is what made the work of Sergei Alexandrovich outstanding: Yesenin managed to become a real Russian (in origin and power of word) poet.
Many looked up to his work, but the imagists often came out with images without a serious semantic load, without a philosophical background. With the arrival of Yesenin in Russian literature, poetry truly bloomed with metaphors that convey the life of people and the poet's love for his native nature.
