An essay on the work by N. In. Gogol's "The Government Inspector"
Irresponsibility is the ancestor of chaos. People do not think about the consequences of their actions, does not want to be responsible for their actions, able to create chaos and destroy everything just touched.
In his work "the Inspector General" a great writer tells us what the result of the carelessness and stupidity of officials. Each character is full of dignity and cares only about personal gain. None of them was aware that in his hands the fate of people, the quality of life of citizens, the honor of the vast country. No one feels the burden of responsibility. People in positions of authority and enormous powers that can easily and quickly resolve problems under their city, but all of them focused only on their own enrichment and comfort.
Common people, seeing such behavior of the authorities, has the same effect: Khlestakov spend their lives playing cards and vegetating without work, as a young and healthy man. Merchants accustomed to give bribes to local officials, rush to ply the visitor and "auditor". Each character is acting solely in their own interests, not even trying to look into the future and predict the consequences of actions.
This great piece will never lose relevance because it is a question not only of bribery and servility. Not at all! Nikolai shows us the horror of irresponsibility, immorality, lack of empathy for others. A world where there is only a momentary advantage, and the motive of any action is the real greed. But the author, strangely enough, almost does not feel hatred for such people. He outlines their ridiculous, gives you funny nicknames and gives ironic characteristics. Gogol like smiles bitterly. In his lines, and felt pity for such characters, because they are deprived of very much: the characters of the play are not capable of a feat or accomplishment really a great work.
And I want to agree with the writer. After all, irresponsibility turns you into a small consumers, in the parasitic organism. Greed blinded them to the important things, impoverishing the world of men. It seems that this lifestyle is easy, because there are no pangs of conscience, nor the gravity of the choice, no long thinking. It is not necessary to give up the benefits because of life principles. But this is a huge misconception. Chose the easy way lose much more than their own honor, the right to be a real citizen of his country and a representative of the human race.
