The power of love in the story «The Captain's Daughter»

In 1836, Alexander Pushkin published The Captain's Daughter. The poet defined the genre as a historical novel, but the volume of the work is more like a story. Based on this, both definitions of this work are allowed.

The driving force in the story is love. Only it can change a person. Petya Grinev is an example of this. At the beginning of the work, he is shown as a rake who likes to play cards. Petya doesn't value money because he didn't earn it himself.

As the reader progresses along the storyline, it becomes clear that Grinev is changing. He was influenced by the acquaintance with the girl Masha. Realizing the beauty of the girl's soul, Peter took a decisive step. He defended the girl's honor by entering into a confrontation with Shvabrin. He struck a "sneaky" blow.

Masha takes care of Peter. For her, he became a real hero. Love grows stronger, and Peter turns from a frivolous youth into a real man. He stops spending money mindlessly.

The situation that happened in captivity is indicative. Grinev does not betray the Empress. He is loyal to his class. How could Grinev of the "sample" that he was before meeting Masha do this? Difficult question. However, love makes you think about honor and dignity. Perhaps, without Maria Mironova, Peter would have remained the same young man.

No wonder Alexander Sergeyevich called the work "Captain's daughter". Masha helps Grinev become an officer and a person in the full sense of the word.

Love can transform a person. If she spoils it, it's a painful feeling, not true love. The novel "The Captain's Daughter" proves this idea.
