Characteristics and image of Emelyan Pugachev

Composition based on the novel by A.S. Pushkin's "The Captain's Daughter"

The subject of the essay "Characteristics and Image of Emelyan Pugachev"

Can ordinary people entrust their fate to a robber, robber and murderer? I would like to answer unequivocally no. But Emelyan Pugachev was a ruthless rebel who did not spare anyone, led the people, ordinary people loved him and believed every word. I think that Pugachev himself was in his heart against cruel acts. But he wanted justice, freedom for the peasants, and saw no other way.

What should be the character of the leader of the riot? Emelyan Pugachev is wise, reasonable and even calculating. He often shows kindness and generosity, supports his people and helps them in every way. In addition, only a real leader, a strong person and a subtle psychologist can control the crowd.

What did Emelyan Pugachev want? The main goal of the uprising is to restore the rights of the peasants, to free the peasants from serfdom. Any landowner, be he good or bad, became an enemy. Whether this was Pugachev's mistake is difficult to say for that time. And he did not have the opportunity and time to sort out relations with the nobles. Did the leader of the people understand that he would lose? Pugachev understood that he was cornered. But until the very last moment he did not show that the peasants would not be disappointed, would not lose heart.

A.S. Pushkin, when he wrote the novel "The Captain's Daughter", took the image of Pugachev from real events. In 1773-1774 there was an uprising of peasants who fought for equal rights and wanted freedom. Emelyan Pugachev was executed, and the uprising was dispersed by the authorities. But the people could not forget their protector, even though Empress Catherine wanted to erase him from history. Folklore, songs and epics about the leader helped to recreate the image of the rebel and rebel A.S. Pushkin. The author of the novel would not argue that Emelyan Pugachev is a contradictory person, but he certainly would not call him a negative hero. In the eyes of the peasants, he was a real hero who defended them to death. And the Russian writer wanted the hero not to be forgotten, so he dedicated the novel to him.
