Formation of personality of Peter Grinev
A composition based on the novel by A.S. Pushkin's "The Captain's Daughter" on the theme: "The Formation of the Personality of Peter Grinev" (Grade 8)

Pyotr Andreevich Grinev is the main character of the historical novel "The Captain's Daughter", written by A.S. Pushkin in 1836. When reading this book, the reader can trace how Peter's personality is formed and how this formation is influenced by the events around him.

Peter was the only child in the family, all eight of his siblings died in infancy. The small family of the Grinevs lived in a quiet, "Simbirsk" village with a strict father - a retired officer, where the main character, according to him, lived a small man. Arkhip Savelich, a striker, who had been granted to him as an uncle, was assigned to the young man. The hero never received a proper education, but he still grew up as a reasonable, quick-witted person - the war will teach everything that they did not have time to teach.

The first manifestation of the stubborn character of the hero was found by Savelich, when Grinev Jr. lost 100 rubles in billiards, but did not flee from debt, but, on the contrary, tamed Arkhip, who advised not to give Zurin money. This very moment is the beginning of the formation of the personality of young Peter.

Upon arrival at the Belogorsk fortress, Grinev finds himself in the family of Captain Mironov, about which his new acquaintance, Alexei Shvabrin, spoke unflatteringly. The officer's mockery of the Mironovs ceased to matter for the hero, Peter, living with them under the same roof, realized that these people were worthy. Shvabrin, being an ugly person both in face and soul, challenged Grinev to a duel, and the reason for this was his love for Masha Mironova, the captain's daughter.

A variety of events swirled around the young officer: both good and bad, but they did not educate his personality the way love for the captain's daughter did. In fact, all the difficulties that fell to the hero's lot in the Belogorsk fortress were due to Masha, but she finally resolved them. These problems are most correctly called "good shocks", in other words, difficulties for the good: the seizure of the fortress by the Pugachev rebels, the execution of the nobles, the arrest of Peter, Grinev's suspicion of high treason and, directly, the constant threat to life.

In relation to Emelyan Pugachev, the main character shows all his honesty and incorruptibility without hesitation, and for this he won the respect of the Cossack. Pugachev's idea of the nobility must have been greatly shaken after talking with a young officer.

Pyotr Andreevich Grinev appears before the reader as a "man of honor" who, despite his early stupidity and irresponsibility, was able to change, cultivate in himself human simplicity and courage in battle. These qualities helped him to avoid many difficulties that fell to his lot.
