The bureaucratic world in the comedy by N.V. Gogol "The Inspector General"
Nikolai Vasilyevich Gogol would like to applaud for the fact that he was not afraid to ridicule the bureaucratic world of the thirties of the nineteenth century. The work "The Inspector General" presents a Russian town located in the middle of the country, which is no different from other cities. Bribery and violation of the law flourish in all spheres. With the help of laughter and cartoons, the author shows the life of officials not only in this city, but throughout the country.
The arrival of a fictitious auditor to this city violates the stable structure of bureaucratic lawlessness. The manager tells about this check. Residents are scared and confused.
The author believes that the protagonists are a whole group of officials, in panic awaiting verification, and not an auditor.
The management structure of various urban facilities is presented by the author in the form of a pyramid. Leaders who have settled down comfortably and are trying in every possible way to get higher, to a better position, although they are very lazy and do nothing for the sake of the city's prosperity.
Judge Lyapkin-Tyapkin, head of hospitals Strawberry, superintendent of schools Khlopov, postmaster Shpekin - all officials are very similar to their chief mayor. Skvoznik-Dmukhanovsky, like his subordinates, is not fair, there is no use for him, so all business in the city is neglected.
Gogol created many comedy scenes, thanks to which you can see the character in his real image. The attitude of men to their duties, their attitude to life and strangers is ridiculed. Using their example, the author showed what is happening in the administrative system of Russia.
Despite being a comedy, it exposes a social gap, an abyss in government. Gogol's work seems to be almost a historical document.
