The image of Shvonder and its opposition to the image of Professor Preobrazhensky in Bulgakov's "Heart of a Dog"
Composition for grade 9 on the theme "The image of Shvonder and its opposition to the image of Professor Preobrazhensky in Bulgakov's" Heart of a Dog ".
As you know, the story "Heart of a Dog" was created by Bulgakov at a time in which both the country and its entire population were subject to a significant change. A turning point in the way of life, in habits, in attitudes, in the rules of existence. And it is at this time that one or more people stand out in society who are ready to achieve their goals, without disdaining methods, simply using the current situation to their advantage. These are either villains, in the image of which Shvonder appears in the book, or people who belong to another time in their thoughts and actions. About such we can say "was born at the wrong time." The latter include Professor Preobrazhensky, whose antipode is depicted in the work of Shvonder, so brilliantly played by the Soviet comedian Roman Kartsev in the film adaptation of the story.
By the will of fate, the antipodes live in the same house. And Shvonder was elected head of the domestic committee. Full of schadenfreude, the typical villain is struggling to impose his own order in his "little kingdom". A tyrant and scoundrel, he believes that he is imposing his own rules on this insignificant part of society, which will surely lead to prosperity. In fact, in few places it is worse than in their house: the entranceways are spit and dirty, none of the tenants is in a hurry to burden themselves with problems, but they form an amateur group where they sing revolutionary songs. And Shvonder simply shines among them with his speeches and slogans thrown at the masses, which he read from newspapers and does not understand their meaning at all.
The professor in the story actively stands for non-violence and the manifestation of conservatism, he is an intellectual who is opposed by an ignoramus. Shvonder is an ordinary performer who does not think about the implementation of the many whims of the ideologists of Bolshevism. He simply fulfills these whims, worships the existing political system. For him, a document is a real force, his words in his story only confirm this: "a document is the most important thing in the world." Shvonder and Professor Preobrazhensky are prominent representatives of two opposing socio-political camps. They will never be able to understand each other. They are essentially distinguished not only by the level of personal culture, but also by their intellect and their own life credo. The proletarian society calls people like the professor "bourgeois",but he is a representative of the intellectual component of the entire society, accustomed to living with his own mind and conscience, and not using the mistakes of others to climb higher. And this is the whole Shvonder - a stupid and insensitive puppet, accustomed to being guided by other people's truths and sayings, without pondering their meaning.
