The theme of the Second World War in the works of Russian writers and poets

1939 brought terrible events to the world. One of the bloodiest wars in the history of the globe has claimed millions of lives. In 1941 it was time for the Great Patriotic War. Writers and poets could not ignore this topic. They reacted to it by supporting the soldiers, bringing the truth to the people.

Publicist Ehrenburg participated in the Second World War, worked as a war correspondent. He described events so that none of them were overlooked. Many writers also took part in the war.

Viktor Petrovich Astafyev himself went through the war. He wrote many works on this topic, showed the post-war events, the state of the country. A.T. Tvardovsky created the image of Vasily Tyorkin, who always joked, knew how to support the soldiers. Turkin was never rude or cowardly. Each of his jokes was always in the subject, and the soldiers asked him to tell again and again the stories-jokes of Tyorkin.

David Samoilov, a front-line poet, created iconic poems. They helped the soldiers morally, and also transferred the souls of the soldiers to their descendants, dressing them in the form of poetic lines. "The Forties" is a poem by Samoilov, in which every word is appropriate. The seeming simplicity of the poem contains the life of people who have gone through the horror of war.

Every poet and writer, publicist and essayist during the Second World War approached the topic of war with anxiety. An interesting fact: they did not try to describe the horrors of hostilities at a time when the war was going on. This was due to the fact that art was supposed to support, raise the spirit of the soldiers. Many poets adhered to this rule, but Tvardovsky reached the heights of mastery in this direction.
