The search for the meaning of life in the play by A.P. Chekhov's "Three Sisters"
In the play by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov "Three Sisters" there is a conflict between the present and the past. The main characters are girls who live in a remote province, left alone after the death of their father. They dream of a new happy life, but the habitual foundations do not allow them to rise and deprive them of emotional strength. Three sisters are romantic natures that are distinguished by sophistication, but at the same time are completely weak-willed. It is not easy for girls to survive in a world where cynicism, moral decline and philistinism reign.
The author sympathizes with the main characters who seek to leave their home, which has long become a real prison for them. But all attempts to change something lead to even greater suffering. Chekhov sees the cause of the sisters' misfortunes in their lack of will. As a result, they find themselves homeless, losing everything, including the hope that they will be able to leave for Moscow. And after all that has happened, they only have to start life anew. Moscow will remain a ghostly mirage, a shattered dream, vanished hopes.
Only by losing everything, the sisters will be able to decide to fight. The harsh reality will make them look at life more realistically. At the end of the play, they all disperse, each choosing its own path. They have to learn to survive and fight their weaknesses. Noble Irina leaves for the wilderness to work to create a bright future for the next generations. Olga holds the unloved position of the headmaster of the gymnasium. Masha arranges her personal life. Three destinies are three searches for the meaning of life.
