An essay based on the work of A.I. Kuprin "Garnet bracelet"
The idea that love is stronger than death is best shown by A.I. Kuprin in the story "Garnet Bracelet". The plot of the work is very simple, but at the same time tragic. A young and poor official Zheltkov fell in love with Vera, but she soon married Prince Shein. An unhappy young man writes letters to her with declarations of love and once sends her a garnet bracelet as a gift, the red color of which reminds the reader of frozen drops of blood. As an honest wife, Vera informs her husband about the incident, and he and his brother go to Zheltkov and asks him to leave his wife alone. Zheltkov explains that he cannot live without his beloved, and the next day Vera sees a note in the newspaper about Zheltkov's death. She begins to suffer remorse, because she realizes that Zheltkov took his own life because of her.Vera decides to say goodbye to him and comes to his house. There she realizes how much this man loved her, and that he could sacrifice his life for her good name. At the end of the story, the words: "Hallowed be thy name" several times.
Analyzing this plot, I would like to state my point of view about why love is stronger than death. Firstly, although Zheltkov dies, he dies like a knight. That is why Vera sees peace on his face, and not suffering from what happened. Secondly, true love changed the essence of the heroine. And now the calm and balanced Vera excitedly tells the musician performing the sonata that everything will be fine, that Zheltkov forgave her before her death. And we, the readers of this work, understand that the love of Georgy Zheltkov did not die, that he gave new life to his beloved soul with his death.
Thus, I believe that love is truly not subject even to death. Because even after death, we continue to remember a loved one and cherish all the memories associated with his image.
